He walks a circuit
A player describing a successful run puts it plainly: “He does do like a patrol of like every room, so if you catch him on a cycle, that’s good.” Rooms he has just left are the safest rooms in the building, and that is where your searching should happen. Hallways are the worst place to be standing still, because the circuit runs through them between every room.
Two movement options, and only one of them works
Sprint is Shift, slide is Shift plus C. Crouch and crawl are both C on their own. Crouching is for staying unseen, not for escaping — once he is following you, the sprint and slide chain is the thing players describe actually breaking line of sight.
There is somewhere he cannot go
Two players filmed themselves waiting somewhere outside his range — “He can only be in the school. He can’t come in here.” Neither clip shows the route in well enough to describe, so we are not going to draw you a map to it. It is real; where it is remains an open question on this wiki.
